Here We Go (Again), Welcome to Natalia's Design Studio!

my office
Welcome to my first blog post! I blogged for about 6 years, mostly about books, fashion and a little bit of beauty and just life in general so you'd think writing my first blog post this time around would come easily. But I'd been putting off writing this post for weeks due to the overwhelming fact that I have nothing and everything to say all at once.

I've wanted to have my own apparel based business since I was a teenager and saw that Rachel Green from Friends had gotten a job as an Assistant Buyer. That became my dream job for years, one that eventually led me to pursue a degree in Fashion Design. After I got my Associate's Degree in Fashion Design & Merchandising, I landed my first after-college job as an Assistant Technical Designer at a women's catalog company. While it wasn't my Assistant Buyer dream job, I realized this is what I really wanted to do. Be involved in the technical and design size of fashion design instead of the merchandising side of it.

To date, that was my favorite job and I was crushed when the company relocated to the East Coast six years later.I had just bought my first house and as an Arizona girl, I couldn't imagine living anywhere else or leaving my parents. I took some time off to be a stay at home mom while I also babysit on the side and worked as an online marketing assistant for several major book publications as well as indie authors.

While I have a different stay at home job now, I never stopped wanting to have my own apparel business. When I was laid off in 2020 due to covid, I started playing around with crafting again, even though I was able to get a job again a few weeks later. Although I spend most of my time either working at my full time job, being a mom to two awesome teenage girls, keeping up with my house and school, I have spent almost every spare second I had the last few months researching and planning on how to finally launch my own business.

It's taken longer than I wanted to, but I think I'm finally ready to launch my business this week. I'm excited and nervous and scared, but I won't let the fear of failing stop me from pursuing this. I've realized I also missed blogging a bit, so I'll be using this as a space to share my very random thoughts about crafting, life, business, books, style, beauty and whatever else pops up in my mind. So, welcome to Natalia's Design Studio, I hope you'll stick around.
